movies that literally scared the shit out of me (keep in mind i was very younger at the time i saw these movies, but i know they would still give me a good scare now)
most are in chronological order

the excorcist (was around 11 at the time)
the ring (12 - gave me nightmares for weeks however it wasnt so scary when i watched it a few weeks ago)
the grudge 1/2 - ju-on (prefer ju on the japanese version)
martyrs (was around 17-18 but this movie still freaked me out)
calvaire as mentioned
a tale of two sisters (recommended)
the others (also recommended)
the descent
jacobs ladder
pet sematary

these are the ones i remember on top of my head since they are worth remembering i assume

Sleepaway Camp (1983)



if nothing else just for the ending. pretty fun 80's slasher even aside from the ending though which is worth the watch on its own.
