LOL, Marv and Hartigan are alive. And Dwight is pre-surgery, hence why he is being played by Josh Brolin and not Clive Owen again.

Not saying there won't be something very minor if any part of the movie that is post original Sin City. But, from the looks of the trailer, this is primarily a prequel.
The art of deduction is more or less common sense...
P.S. - And Manute is alive in this movie. When played by Michael Clark Ducan (RIP) died in Sin City. How is this not a prequel again?
