you can't really say that though.. the book was incredible, and the movie was good as well

but there is just no possible way to include as much into a movie as you can into a book. they did a great job imo of keeping to the story line of the book

anyway both the book and the movie were enjoyable

The movie was not good at all. They picked like an 8 foot tall kid to pay Ender. They completely left out the inner struggle he faced. They left out the effect endless training had on the children, especially Ender. They acted like they were at space camp, always cheerful. The movie left out the language the children made up, except for one very minor "Ho Ender" by Bean at the end. The entire movie was some tall kid who can't act trying to act intimidating. That isn't who Ender is. Not to mention at the end when he realized it was real and he killed all of the people in his fleet he was completely crushed, in the movie that is like one line fucking barely touched. The movie didn't show Enders humanity or empathy at all besides having ford mention it a few times. The scene with Valentine was so awkward and forced that it would have honestly been better if they kept the letter part and cut the lake part instead of vise versa. The movie showed the surface story and ignored all of the important parts. If they wanted a good space flick they could have made the exact same movie with young adults and it would have been A LOT better.

and I suppose you wanted them to have a 6 year old play ender like in the book? how are you supposed to show those things in a movie? and how are you supposed to fit ALL of that into 2 hours? unless you want to be watching like a 6 hour movie there is no possible way they could have went into the story as in depth as they did in the book. obviously the book was better, but they did a good job on the movie too

Ender's internal struggle would've been impossible to incorporate on the screen unless they did a voice over narration like the did with warm bodies, but given the scope of his internal struggle it would've just been a 2 hour long emo monologue that would've never gone over well with audiences and even the author admitted that his film was not adaptable to the big screen because of that internal struggle and that the production team did the best they could without including one of the key parts of the book. It was a solid film despite your review.

And no blah, young adults would not have made that movie better because with young adults summit films would've pushed romance into the narrative and completely turned it upside down.

You don't. They production team went over this in interviews, ender was a taller/older boy because of the stunts and wire work for the zero gravity situations.
Where as the rest of his gripes are normal for adaptions, some things don't translate well and other things are cut for time constriction or fit the director's vision.

He stands over them looks down at them like he is trying to intimidate them. Conplete opposite of the book.

And for the people saying they can't show his struggle I call bullshit. Show him tired, exhausted. Have a montage of all his battles instead of just one and then him quitting like a little bitch. It seriously looked like he quit after his first battle.

I don't know why people always insult a movie because it's not like the book.

Books are for intrigue and deep meaning and movies are more directed towards short term entertainment value.

That said, the movie was definitely a lot better than I thought it would be. I thought it was going to be kind of stupid at first but it just kept getting better and better. The ending twist was fantastic.
