Would be interesting indeed. But I doint think books exist about that time.
But still, they'd make money off the movies, if they made them. Although I think, they'll need to ask permission 1st

there is "The Silmarillion", it goes way way back in the story, might explain a lot of things, its quite tedious at some points though, if they could make good movies out of this book that would be nice.

Would need to cut a ton out of that book, its very tedious to read. Almost overwhelming

I really want to see movies based around Morgoth, Glaurung, Gothmog (Lord of Balrogs). After watching Desolation of Smaug I have so many questions unanswered.

I feel you man. I spent hours re-watching the entire Moria scene when the Balrog comes and what Legolas says to Celeborn and Galadriel after Galadriel realizes Gandalf is gone. In the books it's actually Aragorn who says "he was taken both by shadow and flame", but in the movies it's Legolas. And honestly Peter Jackson did a great job with that.

Legolas: "he was taken by both shadow flame.... a Balrog of Morgoth, for we went needlessly into the net of Moria"

In the books its different. They are downstairs and I'm baked so forgive me.

It all started in 1997 when I played Diablo and saw a Balrog. I was 11.

I'm 27 and still looking up Balrog shit.

God damnit.

WTB more Balrogs.

Edit: Here's a little Youtube clip seamlessly tying the Balrog vs. Gandalf fight from the first 2 movies.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywZ5uo_3Y_A

It's only in 480p though.

The comments are worth reading through as well too. There are some learned folk on there debating the strength of Balrogs versus other Maiar like Gandalf and the Dragons of Middle Earth.

I would recommend going back to school if you have problems reading. The book was perfect and could have been done very well in two movies, someone felt like whoring out the series and changing every single thing along the way. Maybe 1 out of 100 scenes unfolds how it did in the book, I honestly think that only applies for the first movie. The second literally didn't do a single thing right lol. OMG SMAUG WAS COOL, good thing we butchered this series but put a cool dragon in it lol. Masses will be masses

Return of the King extended edition (the like 4 hour long one) in my opinion is by far the best of the Tolkien universe movies.
