They always keep on 1-2 people you hate for hells kitchen or master chef, for that drama aspect. Then it's a popularity contest. Whoever polls better, ends up winning in the end.

Girlfriend loves these shows and I've watched a ton of Ramsey stuff with her, I don't see anything real about it. Still fairly entertaining though.
