Both the installments by JJ were fantastic. I'm pretty upset he's not going to be returning for the third one, hoping someone call fill his shoes. We might see a couple of shitty sequels in a row though, always hard following up an awesome act.


On a side note : How betrayed do all the trekies feel about Abrams just bailing on them.

I liked it a lot but one thing kinda seemed weird to me though. In the beginning why couldn't they just leave the Enterprise in orbit instead of parking it in the ocean?

Because they'd see it (the enterprise in orbit would show up as a non blinking star and would most likely become a symbol of worship) or their shuttle technology hasn't evolved to the point where it can enter the atmosphere safely while the starship sits in orbit, it's possible that the only way the shuttle could get to the ground was if the enterprise entered the atmosphere and that would be a prime directive violation. Either way, it was cool to watch.
