Most of the time, when things are overrated, they are compared to other things within the same category.

It got great ratings, and the general public enjoyed it. When it hit Netflix, social media raved about it.

I never understand why people use "overrated" so easily. I do understand it's an opinion, though.

By overrated, carteblanche means that his personal opinion rates it lower than the aggregate of opinions from everyone else on the internet.

I'm not asking what overrated means.

There is no point in calling something overrated if you can't explain why.

it's been a while since i watched it so i can't give you any details. the biggest thing i remember is that each episode didn't give me the urge to watch the next one. when i watched breaking bad or attack on titans, after each ep i was eager for the next one to start. fringe is too much monster-of-the-week with a very slow plot which killed it for me. i dont recall what about HOC gave me the feeling. and ofc it's just my opinion, hence prefixing it with "imo".
