Yes, any post-apocalyptic scenario where humans are targeted by an intelligent species is a very Hollywood concept. But, coincidentally, this just happens to be the movie and TV subforum.

Obviously this stuff isn't going to happen in real life. But since this theme is very popular in movies nowadays, there must be some interest in it by some people in the world.

I think it would be cool if the next alien-invasion movie (a comedy perhaps) included aliens who had watched previous alien invasion movies.

Sounds like a movie Edgar Wright and co. could do.

Fuck hollywood portrayals, they are so disconnected from reality. Like it is said, films are very new art form and it seems to be stuck in birth canal, especially in hollywood where it's pretty much just and industry... which shouldn't be the main point of art.

If it would happen in real life, they should do a think panel with scientist and make something interesting, believeable, outside the current norms.

That last sentence made sense of the topic, cool idea but extremely hard to make right.

I think if any of the post-apocalyptic scenarios occur that were portrayed in a movie, it would be nuclear fallout.  Why worry about robots/aliens/zombies when we are our own worst enemies?

Most robot/alien/zombie scenarios are a direct result of human activity, i.e, zombie virus research, sentient robots, fucking with alien artifacts that bring them to our earth etc. Most doomsday movies are almost always a result of humans so there is really no distinction.

A lot of zombie movies make it unclear why zombies are being re-animated and I can think of a list of alien movies where we are attacked unprovoked. Robots, yes there is no distinction ultimately because they can be used just like nuclear weapons.

When there is no more room in hell, the dead have to walk on earth. Wasn't it only pretty much after the year 2000 until zombie films started to have their infections from human kinda research.

True on both and that quote was what came to mine. Most George Romero mythos leaves it ambiguous on why zombies are being re-animated and a lot of movies adopted that mystery.

The thing about romero movies are that zombies are largely irrelevant to the story, the real plot revolves around the human condition and society at large. Basically they aren't zombie movies but rather social commentaries (at least his earlier ones).
