The 3D was one of the reasons why it bombed. They only relased it in 2D for select theatres. When theatres offer both, people flock to both. But when they only offer one, it really turns people off from the prospect. Plus the marketing was just terrible.
I don't ever watch movies in 3d. I just feel like it's a complete cash grab with cheap thrills. That is really unfortunate that this movie fell because of of those methods.
Come to think of it, I remember seeing the trailer a while back and noticing that they made a point of calling it "Dredd 3D". I just remember thinking "Wow, ruined a completely good title by adding 3D". Even if it was in 3d, just calling it "Dredd" sounds so much more badass.
