I've never understood this term.. How can you tell which films are made to win Oscars, and which just earned them, and what exactly is the difference? Isn't the ultimate objective to create a quality film, especially when people are passionate about the project, it should reflect outward and be appreciated, right? Obscurity is not the only factor in quality. Actually obscurity has nothing to do with quality. Most of us have seen a lot of movies. I know I have... So I look for obscure titles hoping to find fresh ideas, originality, and some of the things I love most about movies like practical effects, camera work, and scores, that doesn't mean they are great films by any means.



Another term I don't understand. Weekend at Bernie's is both overrated and underrated, as is the case for every film ever made. Overrated by the people who hate it, and underrated by the people who love it, they are both pejorative terms used to undermine the oppositions opinion, and they are both demonstrably arrogant.
