Characters were atrocious, especially the protagonist. The ‘themes’ that they attempted to sprinkle through were all fucking stupid. The constant over the top anime reactions to anything that happens are embarrassing to watch, such as the protagonist smashing his face into tables every time anything mildly inconvenient happens to him. Plan to kill godzilla was retarded. The most egregious cop out in the history of movies at the end

The action was cool for the most part even if godzilla looked bad sometimes but that simply isn’t enough to make up for quite literally every other aspect of the movie sucking dick

The movie is great. One of the best Godzilla movies in a really long time. Really does a good job capturing post war Japan. Especially the turmoil of the pilot and his wanting to live vs sense of honor and duty.

Killers of the flower moon had similar ratings, a largely white cast, and that shit sucked too. The people giving these bad movies high ratings because they have a message they like are completely missing the fact that movies are first and foremost supposed to be entertaining

Movies are just a medium of art. A message for storytelling. Nothing says that they must be entertaining above all else. Some of the most powerful movies are powerful because of what they are saying not because of big explosions. There are also an uncountable number of movies that do nothing except entertainment.
