Was just wondering if anyone had encountered any movies recently you wish were television shows so they could expand.

Movies(recently) I felt had so much potential but stuffed a great idea into a short movie:

The Old Guard
In the Shadow of the Moon

Ender's Game could have been done well in a 10 hour season.

Mostly it's the other way around.
Not a huge fan of shows since they strech the story so thin it bores me after a few episodes.
Most of the time I whised they just made a ~120 min long movie.

But since you are asking 2001 would make an interesting mini series.
Love the movie and the book but you could flesh out the story with a few sideplots and a few more characters in each time setting. Would make an intersting mini series. ( 5-8 episodes maybe )

I used to think that as well. It just means the series wasn't good though. A well produced television series generally trumps a well produced movie. As always, there are outliers.

Hmm maybe seeking a friend for the end of the world.

Or just 5-10 sequels with different perspectives, completely unrelated on the last weeks/days on earth, that would do it too.

So much this.

Eragorn
Priest (could have been so good)
Harry Potter
The Hobbit, 8 hour long episodes you could have done scene by scene from the book and made a glorious show. Or you could break it into a trilogy of movies and shit all over it.
Ready Player One - The movie was just such dogshit anything would have been better
