Looking to get into a historical series on netlifx, maybe even a movie.

Can either be a Docu style series or a fictional series.

Last Kingdom, Game Of Thrones, Marco Polo.

Stuff like those perhaps.

Hell on wheels. Fictional drama series focusing on the construction of the First Transcontinental Railroad.
Turn: Washington's Spies. Period drama series about the book Washington's Spies: The Story of America's First Spy Ring, which is based on the history of the culper ring.
The Tudors. Fictional drama series set in sixteenth century england, while named after the dynasty, it was based upon King Henry VIII of England.
