Hey d2jsp let's give out some awards!

The standard best picture, best actor, or make up your own categories! Best tv season??? It's all good!

Here's mine

Best Picture: Inside Out

Best actor: Oscar Isaac (no not for star wars, for ex machina!) This guy has some serious skills. Honorable mention goes to Michael Pena for his performance in Ant-Man. Yea I know these two were supporting actors but I loved their performances and it's my awards damnit.

Best TV season: Game of Thrones

Worst movie: I dont watch movies that suck

Most anticipated movie for 2016: (yeah cuz why not) Suicide Squad

Best Picture: Youth

Wonderful film that tackle subject matter that doesnt get discussed much, old age. Not only physical aging but also having a young or old state of mind.

Worst use of music: Irrational Man

If I ever have to listen to "the in-crowd" again I'm gonna kill myself.

Worst performance in a leading role: Johnny Depp, Black Mass.

Laughably bad in every possible way. Literal shit.

Best cinematography: The Assassin

Visual masterpiece, absolutely stunning.

Most anticipated for 2016:

Knights of Cups, The Revenant, Yip Man 3, Tjuvheder, Macbeth, Dheepan, Mustang, Jag är Ingrid, Carol, Arabian Nights - Volume I: The Restless One, Umimachi Diary, An, The Witch , Melbourne,

Yes, I like Johnny Depp for the most part but this film... every scene made me cringe.
Worst of all was his speech at the dinner party.

His performance is over the top and unbelievable, to me he comes off as an edgy teenage retard. The director try so hard to make him seem cool, caring and sympathic but it fails every time.

I would have prefered to give out more positive awards instead of negative ones but almost everything I've seen from 2015 have been bad and I don't watch screeners so I still have the best films left I think.

Best actress in a supporting role:

Jennifer Jason Leigh for her role as Daisy Domergue in The Hateful Eight. Pretty entertaining to watch, she's a big part of why I loved that movie so much.

Worst movie of 2015:

The Ridiculous 6. What a giant pile of dog shit. You need to be on all sorts of drugs to find that crap funny. A close second would be the newest Fantastic Four.

Best picture:

The Hateful Eight. I'm gonna sound like a fan boy, but a lot of shots in that movie are just meant to be posters. I could've said Everest but that movie left a sour taste in my mouth. Couple of nice shots tho.

Best animated movie:

Inside Out. I was happily surprised at how much I enjoyed that movie.

Funniest comedy:

I lost my shit at a bunch of scenes from Spy. I went to see that movie thinking it would just be like most summer comedies, but was pleasantly surprised.

Best Movie:

Alright ok YES I am a fanboy. I thoroughly enjoyed The Hateful Eight. 3 hours went by in a breeze.

Best TV season:

I would have to go with Daredevil. A bit less whining from that chick who was in True Blood woulda been appreciated. Season 2 looks really promising tho.

Overall 2015 was a pretty weak year tho.

You have two categories for best picture and best movie. Is there a difference or is this a mistake?

Not trying to argue, but I'm guessing that the director and Johnny dep know more about bulgers mannerisms than you do.

I really know nothing about bulger, but maybe deps performance is accurately depicted in the movie. If you personally don't know either, I wouldn't call his performance over the top.

It's not a matter of that, Burgler is exactly the same as every other movie gangster. Caring and loving towards friends and family but very calculating in everything he does, mercilessely violent when he needs to be.
The difference between this film and every other similar production is that Depp doesn't do the character justice, that is all.

It might be a case of the producers wanting to overstate every feature about the character to make it easy on the audience. Not too uncommon in contemporary filmmaking.
