It depends on the image of the character
If I grew up with Bruce Wayne portrayed as white, i would not enjoy it if they made him black
If he started as a black man, same thing if they all of the sudden made him white
I'd be upset if they made blade white
Also would be upset if they made luke cage white
Race itself isnt the problem
It's changing what we grew up with just to satisfy
Yeah, but just because those same people told you he HAD to be white or black, are the same people that are trying so desperately to keep it that way. When it really shouldn't matter. If Idris Elba wants to be James Bond, cool. I'm cool with that. Dude can act. I'd love to see it. I just don't understand why people don't get that it doesn't matter what color someone's skin color is. Even if it's a beloved character. The whole point is to see it as a more humanized character. One where the color on the outside, rather than his or her actions, doesn't matter.
Edit: It's easy to say you prefer to keep your characters as you remember them, but constantly hollywood is saying "fuck that", and you guys, nor anyone else is saying anything about it then. Like 'Tiger Lily' in the upcoming Disney movie 'Pan'. You know tiger lily. The 13 year old native american girl. Yeah. The character being played by Rooney Mara, the 30 year old, VERY white person lol. I don't see many of you speaking up then.
Like I said though, I get it. I used to think the same way. At this point in my life, I just don't care anymore. Give it to whoever can do the best job with it.
