My lady and I are looking for something to watch. Something I haven't seen, (which is a pain in the ass) and something we will both like.

Her style of movie: Romantic comedies, Horror, whimsical fantasy

Mine: Noir, Dark comedy, revenge thrillers.

Important criteria. She usually avoids movies with subtitles, rape scenes, or anything where children are being hurt. (I'm looking at you 672 lol <3)

If she can get over her fear of reading you could watch Aki Kaurismäki, bunch of his movies could be described as dark rom com!

He has a very very distinctive style so if you like one of his films its safe to just get his complete work, and of course if you dont like the first film you see by him it's safe to just give up and never touch another film by him.

Recomended titles including:

Kauas pilvet karkaavat
Varjoja paratiisissa
Mies vailla menneisyyttä

as long as she speaks korean or likes dubs, look into the mr vengeance trilogy. oldboy is also good (not the american remake)

have you seen History of the World, part 1?

I like the author of the book. I watch his youtube channel. Is it a tween movie? I think we've been avoiding it because it seems like a tween thing.

Thank you very much. If I could get her to watch subtitled movies, finding a movie to watch would be a lot easier.

I will watch these alone when I get a chance. Thank you very much.

She's not korean lol. The dubs for those movies are horrible. Personally, I loved oldboy, liked Sympathy for lady Vengeance, but didn't care for Mr. Vengeance.
Your advice reminded me of Stoker. I liked it, and have been trying to watch it with her for months, but we always end up watching comedies. Thank you. Now I know what we're going to watch

i dont watch much american live action, just the popular ones i'm sure you're already seen (law abiding citizen, taken, etc). i only watch subs for live action foreign films since the dubs really annoy me. if you're interested in anime i can give a few suggestions on dubs so she won't have to read subs.

toradora (romcom: taiga has a crush on ryu's best friend; ryu has a crush on taiga's best friend; they work together for their goal and end up loving each other instead)

fate zero (a group of people summon champions to fight on their behalf to get the holy grail)

fullmetal alchemist brotherhood (fantasy/adventure, two brothers join the military and use alchemy to fight people and try to regain their bodies)

death note (crime/horror: boy finds a book which lets him kill people; he uses it to kill criminals to build a better world while a detective tries to discover his identity)

gungrave (crime: two friends join the mafia; one of them is too ambitious and kills the other, who later comes back as a pseduo-zombie)

sword art online (boy is stuck inside a VR video game; goes on adventure trying to escape. meets a girl and rescues her)

those are some of the better ones in different genres. i could list more if you're interested.
