I'm 6 episodes into the first season of American Horror Story. Can't say it's bad, but it fails to captivate me (and it isn't scary..). Production, acting, ... is all above average, especially for a TV-show. Maybe it's just the story that's too cliché, I dunno.
Hannibal took me a while to get into as well. Second season definitely better than the first...
tl;dr version:
Watch Hannibal
maybe you're thinking a complicated story in a tv series is too important , tv series are all about the characters.
Plus American Horror has like 10+ emmy nominations and alot of critical acclaim.
Does Hannibal even have any Emmy nominations?
Plus doesn't Hannibal have a brand new serial killer every week?
So its kinda like comparing a chapter with an entire book.
Also i have no faith in NBC.
