I will say that this season does look interesting, and I'm sure I'll watch it like everyone else. Although, I found myself saying the same thing about the Season 6 and Season 7 trailer. Season 6 was ok, thought the ending was pretty corny. Season 7 however was pretty awful and really unrealistic imo. Now, before all the Dexter fanboys try to attack me about the show just being entertainment, or that the events were considered possible. However, Dexter has fallen very very far from whence it came. The show used a factional story to tell factual ways that they could happen. His methods were highly coordinated and his actions precise. He rarely was caught off guard and always had a "Plan B", thus the nature of his training and practice.
In the later season however, he has since become very sloppy, always "on his heels or behind the eight ball". Never really gaining enough control to show the viewers that he is still the same person he was earlier on. He has even appeared to "devolve" in his accuracy and commitments. I blame the producers that have publicly made their presence more involved in the writing of the show during Season 5, where they were reported to completely alter later versions on scripts to benefit or increase the longevity of the show. This caused the Season 5 ending, where he almost, and originally was written in to be caught, to be altered obviously.
I originally loved the show because I felt it represented something that could quite possibly happen or be done given the right circumstances and the right devoted person. The show has become something else entirely that I, and many others have pointed out. On more than one occasion the writings sloppiness has shown through. Such as his many daylight abductions, even some right in the middle of crowded parks or parking lots. Time has shown us, that in this day and age, things like this are just not possible without leaving a trace.
