Amazon continues to add to its original programming lineup this week, announcing that it's picked up a pilot based on the 2009 action-comedy "Zombieland," which starred Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg.

The series will be written by the film's screenwriters, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and produced by the film's producer Gavin Polone via SONY Pictures. The producers are sticking close to the film's plot, and noted in a release that that the small screen version will follow "four survivors outwitting zombies and searching for a place to call home." The small screen version's cast will include Kirk Ward, Tyler Ross, Maiara Walsh and Izabela Vidovi.

Thus far, Amazon has only greenlit the pilot, and will wait to see how it plays out before pushing forward with a series -- a model that differs significantly from the Neflix model, which releases the whole season of an original program (as with "House of Cards") on the series premiere date. The pilot joins six adult series outings, along with six kids shows greenlit.

"'Zombieland' is a fan favorite and we can't wait to see where this story line goes in a serialized format," Roy Price, Director of Amazon Studios, said in a statement. "We've been announcing a lot of exclusive content for Prime Instant Video, like 'Downton Abbey,' 'Under the Dome' and 'Justified,' and we think adding original shows to that lineup is going to make Prime even more enticing for customers."

No? that's blasphemy. The better have some cameo's from the original cast. Or at least woody, can't have zombieland without woody.

Well I liked the film but that mostly because of Bill Murray.
Also why would they make another Zombie-series when we already have The Walking Dead.

You're such a rebel. People liked it because it was a good movie. While I hate to use argumentum ad populum, when there is a general consensus amongst professional critics and fans that a movie delivers, those hipsters that claim otherwise have no ground to stand on.
