Solid movie! Enjoyed the IMAX experience. Made my girl cry in several scenes and got me a bit.

15 million budget showing Hollywood how to make a real movie.

Characters were atrocious, especially the protagonist. The ‘themes’ that they attempted to sprinkle through were all fucking stupid. The constant over the top anime reactions to anything that happens are embarrassing to watch, such as the protagonist smashing his face into tables every time anything mildly inconvenient happens to him. Plan to kill godzilla was retarded. The most egregious cop out in the history of movies at the end

The action was cool for the most part even if godzilla looked bad sometimes but that simply isn’t enough to make up for quite literally every other aspect of the movie sucking dick

I never watch stuff with subtitles, but I went ahead and gave this one a chance because of all the good things I heard about it.

The language barrier made things less enjoyable, but it is still undoubtedly a very good movie.

My one nitpick was the flashback scene where they explained about the 'surprise addition to the plane'. I'd have preferred leaving that explanation out and just letting the viewer deduce it. We had enough information to figure it out since the previous scene literally ended with "oh and there's one more thing added to the plane ..." /cut

The strength of the movie was not being enjoyable to watch per se, but rather that it had a really meaningful point to get across to the audience AND it was nailed extremely well.

Any movie that is made to get a point across at the expense of entertainment is an insult to the audience, and is utterly missing the point of why the vast majority of people watch any form of media

And this movie doesn’t even have a relevant message unless you happen to live in ww2 era Japan regardless
