Got my computer secondhand just to use for light gaming and for my wife, and it’s been a good of so far. Added a second screen and ram 2 instances of D2R and it wasn’t happy about it. Would it be better to upgrade ram first or graphics card or something else?

Current specs are:

Ryzen 1600x
Msi twin frozr Radeon rx 580
16gb Corsair vengeance ram 2667mhz
Gigabyte gaming ab-350 motherboard.

Reduce settings on d2r when running 2
And see how it goes

You need to check what's getting eaten up using hwinfo or something similar
You can't just assume
Guess that Mobo supports 5 k series which would be biggest upgrade 5600 or higher

is your RX 580 the 4gb or 8gb variant? it's probably your ram, as once you start running more instances, etc you eat up a lot more memory

but like the above mentioned, check hwinfo or even task manager to check utilizations when you are running these processes to get a better idea

the CPU and GPU are fairly adequate units

Yeah it’s definitely the memory that’s the issue. I think I’ll either have to get a new cpu cooker as well because the one on this one hangs over one of the ram slots

Is there a fan on the backside of the CPU Cooler that is over the ram slots? Can always move that fan to the front of the cooler (if there isn't on there already) to get that space back.

I think corsair has LPX Vengeance ram which would be low profile to help with that issue. One thing to consider when buying ram is your MHz, AMD loves more MHz and utilizes it very well.. Aim for 3600 if you can.

It’s just the cooler itself is massive and the cooling fins block one of the slots. It was a cheap cooler to begin with and that may be the reason

I’ll try it. I didn’t put it together so I didn’t check for recommended orientation or anything lol. Just ran it, bench tested it and it checked out okay and had been running fine for a year until I did something more demanding on it lol

If the mobo (don’t think it does) supports a R5 5600 with a bios update then I’d do that and another stick of ram. 16gb is what you want for gaming these days.
