If your CPU cooler is from a previous PC, I'd expect you'd want to contact Noctua and request them to send you new mounting brackets for the Intel 12th Gen.

Your build is ok or good enough. I did notice you're missing Win11 from your list, so keep that in mind for your budget. Also, if you're not restricted with budget, consider using Samsung 980 Pro or something that is PCIe Gen4.

One thing I did notice...did you check the RAM height for those G.Skill? In my experience with the NH-D15 and a case that does fit that CPU cooler, your only options are Crucial Ballistix or Corsair Vengeance LPX. The Crucial is a bit taller.

thanks
ill upgrade to the 980 pro

im a little confused on the ram height, do you think i need a shorter ram? like it wont fit with that cooler?

if so, is it worth maybe just upgrading the cooler or just getting a different ram?

also thoughts on motherboard? i never really knew how to pick the best for price motherboard

thank you

Noctua's product page has an image and all the dimensions shown. I'm hoping this would clear your confusion with regards to the RAM height.

https://noctua.at/en/products/cpu-cooler-retail/nh-d15/specification

As you can see in the image which is at the bottom of the page, you have 32mm to play with. Now if you move the fan up to 170mm mark (limits provided by the Corsair case), you then have 32mm+ 5mm. So your max height is 37mm.

Now that you know all this stuff, can you figure out the RAM height of the one you picked?

I don't understand why you would ask me about picking a different RAM vs different CPU cooler. I gave you two suggestions for a different RAM...or are you asking about a different CPU cooler? To which I default back onto the question of budget.

Motherboard is fine. Nothing to point out...
