Ive been told in these here forums I should wait for a 3070 to come back down in price or for fresh releases instead of buying a lessor card....

I found this for 510 out the door and Im not pleased but it seems to be the best for the buck right now without waiting a year

MSI Mech Radeon RX 6600 XT 8GB GDDR6 PCI Express 4.0 ATX

thoughts? suggestions
I wanted to spend 4-500 so 600 is a stretch but even if I buy into best buy for 200 and wait for the restock I'm in at 500 for the card so, 700 total

thanks

What are you using it for? 6600xt is a great card at a fantastic price. The 3070 is better, but unless you're trying to run 4k or you're a top tier FPS player, the 6600XT will serve you well!

Got the 6600xt??

Congratulations! Awesome upgrade

Might look into SAM. Depending on your bios/cpu configuration it allows your CPU to access your VRAM and might help framerate (even an average FPS player will appreciate some extra frames)

https://www.amd.com/en/technologies/smart-access-memory

Looks like you need a 500 series motherboard, a 3000 or 5000 series CPU and an up to date bios (the firmware for your motherboard).

All you would do if you have those parts (or even if you just want to check) is Google your motherboard name and "how to enable SAM"

It's worth it if you're already set up for it but probably not worth upgrading parts just for this feature.

I'll also recommend maybe not updating your bios if that needs to be done. Updating the bios can be easy but it can also be an absolute nightmare if anything goes wrong (broken bios means broken PC). If all your parts match but you need to update the bios, maybe take it to a nerd or a shop and ask them to do it

Feel free to PM me if there's anything else I can help with
