Not a gaming laptop.
Thus the screen isnt a huge deal

She will be using it for mostly school / work / music editing.
She sings and records music. Edits videos of her singing and what not for YouTube and Instagram.

Do you all have any suggestions on a good laptop for her?
I guess the CPU is more important than graphics card?

Thank you

Ideally in the price range of the Lenovo 5 pro.
That's what I was thinking of getting her.

Maybe around 1300ish little more or less is fine.

Like I said, she does not game. But she does edit music and videos.
I also like the s17 zephyrus but at that price I think the macbook is better.

If it matters I do have access to a micro center

Looking to buy asap, black Friday cyber Monday ideally.
Gift for Christmas

Thank you

If it were me, personally, I would buy a Macbook (m1) assuming she doesn't need Windows for any of her software needs. The m1 is a beast for editing content.

7core air with 16gb ram and 512gb storage should suffice.

Otherwise

If you are mac family, get a macbook.
If you are windows family, get a windows notebook.

I own a software firm, and I have a reg macbook and an M1. I also have 2 asus notebooks. (Used for testing).
I have 2 AMD desktop computers (DIY 3800X and 5800X built for software dev).

Our company has many sales/support. Upper level managers get macbook (we have purchased 3 M1s for employees). If you aren't developing, then M1 is fine. M1 is absolute crap if delve into a lot of coding of systems not only for mac or iphone apps, and we only suggest people to have mac(non M1)/win/linux.

Back to your purchase, m1 is sufficient for everyday consumer, but if you aren't team mac, don't get it. I use mac 20% of my day, linux 20%, and windows 40%. And switching between mac and non mac used to be very annoying for the first 2 years, meaning if you are team windows, then stick to windows. The hotkeys you get used to and moving from windows -> mac, if the person doesn't want to, is hell on earth and back, because your fingers move like a manual race car driver.

You should try to figure out inconspicuously if she wants/willing to move to a mac. Anyways, you can buy it and should be able to return it if you want to swap, so no issues there. Or if she's a windows user then just stick with windows.
