Ram and CPUs are different. CPU refers to your processor (like i3 i5 i7 etc), these are usually soldered to the motherboard on laptops and not interchangeable.

Ram, on the other hand, often is upgradeable in laptops, and reasonably easy to do.

Here is a site that will help you: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/pavilion-gaming-15-cx0058wm

I simply googled your model number and "ram upgrade".

Lastly, the ram speed is important. I recommend springing for the 2666 or the 3200. This number has to do with the access speed for the ram.

Feel free to pm me other questions.

all of this is correct except...

Make sure you enable XMP/DOCP in the bios if you get faster ram.

I'm pretty sure that there is no XMP feature on any Crucial options for that laptop model.

If your mobo support s a 3200 and you put a 3200 and a 2666 in it, the mobo will downclock the 3200 to a 2666
