sup guys. i bought my pc back in 2019 - with a ryzen 5 2600 and MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbo AC mainboard

i purchased a ryzen 7 3700x today, regarding to the internet it should be comptabile with my mainboard but it may need a bios update/flash/whatever since my Mainboard got purchased before ryzen 3 was released

is there anyway I can check if i need to upgrade it or not?
thanks

I would just get the update regardless, saves headaches later.

Updating your bios is the single most important and overlooked thing you can do.

Check your manufacturer's website for the latest revision and update to it for sure, especially when upgrading hardware like your CPU.

There was an update on October 12th this year for ya! I'd try that out even though it's in Beta, otherwise June 2020 seems to be the most recent stable version.

Here is from MSI's support and driver/bios download for your exact model:

Could have saved money and gotten 5600x or spent $40 more for a 5800x

the 7 5800x is 400€ in germany. I did want an 8 core since im also working from this pc - and back then the 3700x was in sale for 210 only.
I didnt even need an upgrade, but I was building a pc for my brother and only CPU was missing - so I bought myself a new one and gave him the 5 2600 :)
