Yeah.

6+2 cables ARE 8 pin cables. They just made them 6+2, so it would fit either a 6 pin connector or an 8 pin connector.
Electrically... a 6+2 pin = an 8 pin.

I'm guessing the video card is bad... Because the exact same plug-ins work with my old vidoe card. Unless my card wouldn't be compatible with my motherboard? It plugs in fine, but isn't recognized.

Was your old vid card, also an Nvidia card?

Sometimes when switching from one Nvidia card to another, you need to reboot twice, before the new card is recognized.
Also the 2000 series vid cards need a driver later than 388.xx

Yes my old one is gtx 1060 6 GB. New is 2080 TI.

I currently have the old one plugged in and installed, booted up fine and detected.

My motherboard is ASROCK Z77 Extreme4.

Is that non compatible with 2080 ti?

Put the 2080 Ti back in and reboot, TWICE.
Also, like I said above, your vid card driver needs to be 388.xx or later.


The only other thing I can think of is you might need to uninstall the current vid card driver first.




DDU Instructions - Nvidia
1. Get this program, here: https://www.wagnardsoft.com/display-driver-uninstaller-ddu- ...get the latest version, and save it to your desktop.
2. Get the Standard/Game Ready vid card driver here, use the Manual Search: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us ...save this to your desktop.
Unhook the internet completely.
3. Reboot into Safe Mode and run DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) choose the "Highly Recommend Option", and just do what it tells you.
4. After it's done, reboot to normal mode, then turn the computer OFF.
5. Switch to the new video card, then boot to the desktop and install the new vid card driver. Reboot the computer.

If the new vid card doesn't work then, just put the old one back in.

Then you can rehook the internet.

Ty I'll try that

I'm the motherboard bios before startup, it doesn't show the video card even detected. Would it detect it there regardless if there driver was updated or not?
