For what reason? From what I understand Ryzen > Intel for everything EXCEPT gaming.
I won't be streaming or video editing. If so then Intel would be the better choice for me. I also got it for a great price.
Well for one, you're not overclocking as I bolded.
Two, you're playing your games at 1440p, which means the difference btwn a ryzen and 9900k is very minimal in gaming. We are talking like 1 to 5fps.
Third, 9900k is an older chip. If you're trying to waste money, you might as well at least go for the best for gaming chip as of now and get the 10900. Otherwise, you should really wait for the new ryzen to release next week. The current ryzens like the 3900x/xt are neck to neck with the 9900k, so it's safe to assume that their new ryzen CPU will perform better than the older chip like 9900k.
If there was a significant difference in gaming, sure why not, but that isn't the case here. It really doesn't matter if you're not going to be streaming or video editing, the benefit will still be there overtime as an option. It's like saying you want to limit yourself to a 1tb Samsung ssd instead of 2tb crucial ssd because you don't need the extra space and Samsung ssd is technically the "faster" ssd with very minimal difference in speed irl.
If you're still dead set on building your pc around a 2018 CPU chip, then by all means lmk since its your money
