I put the above list together for him - but wanted some second thoughts/opinions

shipping to USA - No Microcenter pickup etc etc
budget is ~500 but that is not including windows 10 monitors and also a graphics card. he will be bringing his own GTX 970.
Use for gaming and standard office work - no overclocking.

don't get 1x8 gb ram, ryzen needs ram to be on par with intel.
i guess why isn't he bringing more from his old pc?

I went with 1x8 so it would be easier for him to upgrade and add a second stick in the future - you're saying just get the 2x8 now?

the 970 is coming from a separate friend who is upgrading, so it's the only piece we have at the moment

Not only more ram but FASTER ram is more crucial.
Need 2x sticks to get the benefits of DDR - Double Data Rate.
The cougar case is now too much for what it is price wise.
Theres bigger cheaper psu's, and better mobo's.

Though I would tell him to sell his ass on the corner and get this ram instead...
