Hello everyone, I just upgraded to a i7-9700k, I'm currently running a 1070 and I want to upgrade.

What would be the best thing to go for?

Currently I was thinking a 2080S as I mainly play 1080p and performance/skill based games which need lots of FPS, but I might want to buy a 1440p monitor in the near future for different games as well.

Let me know your suggestions

Thanks :)

What performance/skill games? I'f we are talking pubg/fortnite/csgo/siege and stuff like that then I would wait for the 3080.
Cause a 1070 is fine for 1080p.

Who knows maybe nvidia wont rip people off this round of cards.

Mainly BDO (which is mainly cpu driven, but does use a lot of graphic power during large fights where I see my FPS dip)
And some FPS (cod warzone, csgo) and some single player for fun, the single player stuff would be the 1440p

I know a 1070 is “fine” for 1080p and I can run most games at 150-200fps, but I want more :)

Well the price gap between 2080s and 2080ti is like what? $400?

It’s about what you want to spend. If 2080ti is $1200, I’m sure the 3XXX card will be $1200-1500

30% performance gains...700$ vs 1000$ its literally 30% more cost.
3xxx cards will be several tiers ranging from 300-1200.

2080ti is for 4k
its overpriced for 1080p and 1440p

its actually just overpriced

amd needs to figure shit out quick so we can go back to 400-500$ top shelf graphics cards

/E actually might not even happen cause their last attempt at a prosumer card (Radeon VII) was a huge oof unless navi v2 is much better than navi v1

You thinking that prices will change much if amd competes?
Cpu market barely changed
Just little more cores for the price
Which is only performance boost we seeing
And 5700xt didn't really do it in that range

well for starters we dont have to pay over 200 dollars for quad cores without multi threading anymore
we dont have to pay over 300 dollars for a hex core processors
top end consumer desktop skus dont cost over 1000 anymore

X299 is almost useless because intel can't compete in HEDT now in price or performance, vendors can't move X299 boards or chips.

it changed pretty hard

Inevitable
Cores went up but tiers still same price if not even more now
Top of the line mainstream was 300ish
Now?
700 for top of the line mainstream cpu
Exactly
