Looking for a new gaming PC, basically looking to spend less than 1000 CAD, looking for the optimal price/performance range. So somewhere around medium-high I'm sure. I have a GTX 1070 that a friend is giving me, might add a second in the future so I probably need a 800W PSU im guessing.

So, don't need a GPU, don't need an OS, monitor, keyboard, or mouse. I don't really need to be able to play everything in ultra just want to be cost effective. Almost exclusively used for gaming.

edit: I can use american sites, as I'm pretty sure they are cheaper in most cases, as long as they ship to canada, I will need to calculate differences.

Jesus why are the modo/PSU/Tower/Ram so expensive, is this standard? I remember stuff being way cheaper like 3 years ago. I was looking at some RAM earlier that was like 2x8gb for $80

How's this?

/e Don't worry. You can flash the BIOS on that mobo (if u need to), with just a USB stick. No CPU, RAM, etc., needed.

/ee And yeah, in Canada, all the 850W gold rated PSUs are that expensive. Don't see any 800w, btw.

How much cheaper can you go with like a 500/600? I didnt think the price would be that much difference. I generally hold onto my cpu for 2 years then resell it for about 60% of cost.

I can actually buy from an American site if needed. I have dual residency but am primarily CAD currency.

e/ What am I looking at for the cost of the CPU, and what am i looking for on the MOBO, just making sure it matches the socket for CPU mainly? Ram and gpu are pretty universal no? I dont need much fancy stuff.

Yeah, I didn't notice there was no price for the CPU.

This will prolly give me an idea of what im looking for.

How new is that CPU, honestly I doubt I will even need something that good. Prolly go for a bit older quad core with decent speed with a cheaper MOBO and PSU if possible. When building the only thing I really need to worry about is matching mobo with cpu socket? Otherwise I think I just need a case big enough for the 1070.

Im gonna have to look around at difference american sites too I feel like I can look for deals of the days and exchange.

dbl'd the ssd size and shaved off 130$
you only need 700-750 watts for dual 1070's.

Made some adjustments, can my MOBO run everything ok? Do you see any issues? I decided just to get a cheaper PSU and ill upgrade again in the future if needed.
