Description: I will use this almost exclusively for gaming

Budget: I'd prefer to stay below 1k USD but I am flexible especially because I'd like a decent monitor, mouse, and keyboard and I know that could potentially add a lot to the build cost

More specific use (what games, what programs): Path of Exile, D2, D3, possibly some MMOs but I'm not really sure what ones as I haven't done any PC gaming in several years. I'd like to be able to max the listed games out comfortably, though.

Planned time until purchase: I probably won't end up buying anything for 2 or 3 months unless there are some fantastic Black Friday deals that I can take advantage of online or something.

Do you need an Operating System?: Yes.

Do you have any specific preferred components?: No

Do you need a sound or wireless card?: I don't need a wireless card. Not sure about sound card -- when would I need one of those?

Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?: Stock cooling, probably. Because I don't really know what I'm doing.

Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?: Yes. I need a monitor, mouse, keyboard, and speakers.

Zip code/location? (Shipping costs): 02101, Boston, MA

What's the point of that question then if we can only get help if we're buying ASAP? I also said probably wouldn't buy for a couple months. If the deals are good, I will buy sooner. And I'm assuming there are deals going in to black Friday. I saw somebody getting help when their purchase time was by Christmas. What's the big difference between a month and two months?

Anyway, if I do just need to come back later that's fine. Just seems weird if the template has a "when are you looking to buy" question and the answer is always supposed to be "asap"

Are you wanting to keep your entire setup under 1k including peripherals?
Might have to make some decisions on where you’re willing to sacrifice performance. What’s most important to you in your build?
I have a special copy of windows 10 that doesn’t require a product key that I could get to you.
When you answer these questions I should be able to help you come up with a build.

I would like it to be under 1k total but I understand that's probably a stretch. I am flexible with the budget and I also don't mind getting really cheap M&K for now with a low budget monitor.

Do you think 1.5k would be more reasonable? Not really sure what's most important. I'd just like to comfortably run games like PoE and D3 on max settings which I don't think is too crazy, but maybe I'm wrong

Thanks for the help.

1.5k will get you some pretty good stuff. I'll give you a 1k build and a 1.5k build.

The only thing about building a pc is you wanna make sure your hardware is a significant amount better than whatever game you're wanting to play requires. The reason for this is you never know if another game you're super excited for is going to come out in a couple years and then your pc that you built for poe and d3 can't run it.

I have a few things to do today but next post will be a 1k and a 1.5k build with peripherals both focusing on computer performance.

If my MacBook can run D3 and POE, a 1k gaming PC sure as hell can
