current build, looking to upgrade in order to play apex legends on a higher setting, playing on pretty low right now and havent touched anything in my cpu for 8years

Overclock cpu, maybe a new psu depending on wattage of unit.
If you have nice after market cooler skip that one and buy a better gpu.

what do u mean by overclock cpu?
and any ram sticks would be okay correct?

forget the wattage of my psu but i did replace that two years ago

Over clock as in add voltage to cpu and change the multiplier to boost speed.
best to buy another of what you have so its a matching set

Sell your current ram and just install the ram on this.
If you already have an aftermarket cpu cooler, don't get the hyper 212. Like Art said, OC CPU.
