I’m using an asus z97 mobo and trying to install windows onto a crucial mx500 ssd into the m.2 slot
I’ve gone into the bios, advanced, and changed the PCI Express Slot and M.2 Bandwidth from PCIeX1 1 and 2 slot at X1 Mode to M.2 Mode
When I try to install windows, it says “no drives found”

I’ve tried reseating the thing a bunch of times, and the card itself has a red led that lights up when I power the pc on. I have no idea what to do, if you need more details let me know

No I completely removed my other hard drives plugs to the power supply as well as the sata
I have not looked for bios updates, but I suppose that will be the next thing I’ll try. I’ll go to the store and buy a flash drive to copy the bios update onto later

In addition, I’m a bit of a newb. Is there a way to see if my bios can’t eben detect the m2 ssd?

m.2 is a connection and it takes m.2 sata drives and m.2 nvme drives..

the mx500 is a m.2 sata and seems like the z97 board only takes m.2 nvme drives..

so pretty sure it wont work

Asus Z97-A

yea this is what it says:

1 x M.2 Socket 3, , with M Key, type 2260/2280 storage devices support (PCIE mode)

means it only runs pcie nvme mode, otherwise it would say (PCIE mode + SATA mode)
