I just built one for first time, hardest part is making sure you get everything you need. And doing hardtubing with multiple bends if you want everything to line up all nice and perpendicular

the performance is dank, I can hit 5.3 GHz on my 8700K and get under 75C running prime 95 small FFTs

If you're referring to custom loop, all depends how crazy you wan't to get. It can be simple straight runs, or it can be complex dual loops that require case mods. That's the whole point of it being custom.
It's worth it if you actually need the most performance out of your computer, but it requires maintenance.

Once you get past the initial cost of it for fittings etc it's not that bad expense wise for down the road.

Setting up your loop correctly with flow is the hardest part of it all. Very beneficial assuming you have the radiator to support the wattage of heat

Pumps weren't the issue, it's the coolant dyes

Aesthetically pleasing, not too difficult if you plan it out before you buy but it can be quite expensive. I think I spent ~$800-$1000 for my last custom loop.

Better pumps wouldn't of broken.
