Will be getting a cooler also and tossing in a used 1050 most likely. Mainly for modded minecraft and browsing etc.

I have hd to transfer over.

Fyi that build won't benefit from anything over 2666 mhz ram.
You could honestly just get a 2400g and that would be good enough graphics for minecraft.

are you running your own server? that would justify 16gb easy.

as zell mentioned though, you won't be getting those speeds off that RAM with the mobo you have picked.
you would need a mobo that allows OC to 3k on RAM. you could pick lower speed ram if you plan to keep that mobo.

No, I hosting the server on a separate rig. Okay, I'll look into a new mobo then. We're mainly struggling with lag when we've built up a few contraptions that use Redstone and moving parts. Most likely due to the old pc having a dual core and i3 and 8gb of 1600 ddr3

You don't need the additional speed with intel. Just save some money on ram by getting 2666.

this could be a number of things that you could monitor. with another rig taking the load of the server, it could very well be your graphics card. what is the gpu on older rig?
i know you're building new so it doesn't matter, but 8gb ram should be enough to do most of all that without hiccup i think.

Integrated GPU. I was told a GPU isn't needed for mc
