Looking to upgrade from a dell optiplex 990, mainly looking to compile faster. Would like to try out a water cooled build. Don't need a gpu since I don't plan on gaming with it just using it to compile stuff. Already have a psu from my current build so don't really need one

Water cooling isn't really price effective vs air, and with your budget would make it really hard to get any high end components.

using gentoo better go with fx cpu for max security

Well in that case, does the compiling take advantage of GPU compute or is it just CPU intensive?

Cpu intensive don't need a gpu with the build
