Debating on Getting a 9600k or a 9700k but not really sure what motherboard to go for, looking at spending about 200-300 Canadian on one.
Was also wondering how people felt about the 9th gen cpus in general vs 8th gen.

8700k > both those.
Just get the MSI pro carbon board.

9k series is solid if you don't mind the price.
The 8k series seems to be better bang for you buck.
9k series offers more cores but loses hyper threading in the i7 series.

i dont think 9 vs 8 was a huge upgrade compared to 8 vs 7 where they added 2 extra cores

so imo not really a reason to get 9 over 8 unless u are going for the 9900k

for the motherboard - Z370 or the new Z390 if u want to OC, if u dont H370 or B360 should be fine

and im pretty sure u have to update bios for all chipsets except the new Z390 to run 9gen

no one's arguing that, but hyperthreading's uplift is well documented. It's also just snappier.
