I'm looking for a new low budget GPU to replace mine that has a fan that annoys the fuck out of me with its buzzing and rattling.

I don't really game on my PC anymore other than like Hearthstone or RuneScape on occasion. Sometimes World of Warcraft.

I'm looking at the AMD Radeon RX 550 for about $75, I thought that seemed like a really good deal. Any suggestions on better value would be appreciated.

I'd be willing to consider going up to $150ish but only if the difference is massive. I mostly just need it to be able to play 1080p 60fps video and other aspects of normal PC and software dev usage.

A GTX 1050 Ti will seriously beat an RX 550. It's about $160

i'd get this https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131736 for 150.

but for his starter budget of $75 a 550 would be descent. It's the AAA titles that'll be hard to run on higher settings. WoW should be fine and Runescape.

also depends on ur current gpu and what ur expecting to get out of a new one compared to it

this is a better option, provided you have the wattage to run it.

Pretty sure you could even get a 4gb rx 570 for closer to $100 as well, you won't really be vram limited at 1080p in those games.

Right now I have a Radeon HD5870 which is more than powerful enough, but it's dying and the fan is all off track.

All I really expect is to be able to play 1080p 60fps video (4k video without dropping frames would be a nice bonus but not necessary) and Hearthstone and RuneScape (both versions) and WoW (Classic and retail). I'll probably eventually replace it 6-12 months down the line with a 1060 or 1070 (or whatever's the best value in the price range at the time).

Right now it's honestly just that my PC is borderline unusable due to the incessant GPU fan rattling, plus the card has other serious reliability issues and I think it's on its way out.

By a hefty margain I might add. Like literally almost twice the frames per dollar. Plus you get free sync (natively).

So there is a sale on the 1050 Ti on Newegg for $130 so I grabbed one of those. I know the 570 and 580 are better value for performance, but from my reading it seems the cheapest versions of those cards are kind of unreliable and have shitty fans and are loud.

Noise level and reliability are more important to me than performance so I thought this seemed like a good deal to pick up.

Thanks for your help everyone. Would appreciate your thoughts/criticism of the purchase.

The fuck? You reading some Tom's Hardware BS???

Literally and XFX would have been WAY better, like we're talking 50% more performance for the same price. Your loss.
