so i finally built my new computer. in windows i see my GTX 1070 listed in device manager. the device status says:

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

i went to nvidia's site and found this:

https://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/139905

GeForce Game Ready Driver

so i downloaded it and installed it. restarted my computer, still the same issue.

went back to device manager, manual update driver, pointed to this directory: C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation

it says windows already installed the best driver.

what can i try next?

Make double sure the vid card is seated properly and the screw or clamp on the back is not TOO tight (sometimes this will "lift" the front of the card and cause problems). Make sure the cable(s) for the vid card are in properly.


Maybe try an earlier driver, like the 411.xx series and use DDU to uninstall the driver that's in there now.

Reseat the card and check the plugs. Make sure you have all windows updates.

May also be a dead vid card. Same shit happened to me recently. Had to buy a new card. Rip gtx 780

Dam... The question I asked is because I was having problems with my newest build and it seeming like it was running really slow and everything like I didn't have a gpu in and was just running on integrated graphics
Same card and I didn't know how to diagnose or ask for help cuz I still don't know what it is to this day

Ya updated all of em and tried to roll back the mobo like twice I think
