Hey folks,

Girlfriend wants to play more modded minecraft and shit so I'm gonna up her build. Nothing is really salvageable from her previous build except the hard drive and peripherals. This comp would be used for minecraft, sims, youtube, twitch etc. Nothing demanding. I built my own last year but it was my first time and I want to make sure I get hers rught because it will be a set and forget. No upgrading really.

I assume I'd need an i3/ryzen 5 or greater, 1060 should suffice, and I'd prefer if it had 16gb ram or at least the option to add more. Also she wants an rgb case if possible where you can edit colors. I can find some cheap ssd's to add to IT. Looking for insight if I'm on the rightt path and thought process.

Thank you,

If all you need it for is minecraft and basic tasks, this will be fine.

You'll want a dedicated gpu for newer versions of MC and with various mods.
Also go intel as it favors single core performance.

I'd opt for the 1050ti tbh unless she plays more demanding games to stay within budget..

Then add your gpu, 1050ti is like 200$ atm new, should just buy a used card.
Can remove ssd if you like though I would just buy one.

Do you think bumping to an i5 would have significant differences?

I have an old Asus H81M-E MicroATX that I could re-use.

I5 would be overkill imo for just mc. The i3 is a quad core as is.
If she plans on multitasking stuff along side mc then it wouldn't hurt. (IE stream/lots of background programs etc)
That mobo would be fine with a used i5-i7, though the 8350 beats it and allows her to later go to a 8700k.

Okay thanks for the advice. She wouldn't be upgrading anything after the purchase as she doesn't do much intensive stuff anyways. The only things she'd do on the sides while actively playing minecraft would be youtube/twitch stream.

If I were to reuse her current i3/H81 mobo and add in a GPU + upgrade RAM/SSD do you think it would work? I can get exact specs tomorrow if needed.

If you're streaming something higher than an i3 would be advised
