looking at the ryzen 5 2600 since it's on sale but I've been hearing the 1600 isn't far behind and I can grab one of those used for $170cad

trying to save as much money as possible, hoping to maybe spend $350/$400cad on the 3 parts but can go up to $500 if really good deals are on.

is it okay to buy 1 8gb stick of ram now and get another later? it's his birthday now and christmas is coming soon

Less expensive mobo with same features and faster ram than build above.

the dude is hoping for 400cad and up to 500 but you guys are suggesting 500+ before taxes which runs up to 600+.

OP you're fine to purchase 1 8gb stick and get another stick later.
what is ur bro's current build? what monitor does he have? what games do he usually play?

Because 16 gb of ram is way moire price efficient, and he's talking about spending the money down the road anyways.

all the more reason why price efficiency now isn't a problem and he wants 1gb stick now to fit his budget, and buy later?
