Hello Everyone,

I am somewhat torn at the moment. I am looking to build a new system and I have chosen the following components:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 2 2600
CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken x62
Motherboard: Asus X470 ROG Strix
Memory: G Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB 3200Mhz
Storage: Samsung Evo SSD / WD Blue HD
PSU: EVGA G2 650 Supernova (Gold)
Case: NZXT S340 Elite

I have already started to purchase some of the above parts so I don't intend to change the configuration.

Now were I am stuck is choosing the graphics card and the associated monitor.

I would like to run at 1440p / 144 Hz.

I am torn between the following combinations:

GPU: AMD Vega 64 ROG Strix (£500)
Monitor: Asus ROG Strix 32" Curved Free Sync 1440p / 144 Hz Monitor (£500)

or

GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080 ROG Strix (£575)
Monitor: Predator 27" Curved G-Sync 1440p / 165 Hz Monitor (£650)

There are other Monitor options for G-Sync such as the Asus ROG Swift at £600 however we lose the curve. There is another Predator monitor without the curve priced at £500 too however this has a 4ms response time vs the others which have a 1ms.

I guess what I am asking is; would the upgrade from FreeSync to GSync be worth the extra costs? If were to spend an extra £225 based on the above I still loose 5" of monitor and the snazzy ROG stand (Yes it matters!!).

Alternatively; do you have any other suggests for a GPU/Monitor combo to achieve my goal?

Thanks for any help guys.

no its not worth it, its basically the same shit for more.
with that being said nvidia though has a much better gpu line up over amd.
So if performance is key to you then you really don't have a choice.

I just run a 1080 on a 1440P 144hz 1ms Freesync monitor.

i did use an AMD gpu with it briefly to test freesync, sure it was nice but to my eyes more overall FPS is best I would much rather have 100 FPS with no syncing tech than 70 with.

So if anything I would say whatever gets you the most screen size/FPS per $ is going to keep you happiest.

Nope, cuz u ain't gonna get stable 144+ fps on 1440p for any games you desire with a 2600. You should still get nividia GPU though

5% less performance for 50% more heat and power tho :/

I'd get the G-Sync just because you'll have it for 10 years and in that stretch the best GPU on the market at any given time will be a Nvidia GPU.

Vega won't have steady 200fps in a lot of games at high settings 1400p. Just get a 1080ti and a non-gsync 144/165 hz monitor. As long as the GPU isn't bottlenecking, gsync doesn't really matter imo.
