Currently have the following PC:

CPU: i5-35x70k
Cooler: h100i
MOBO: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131837
RAM: DDR3 2400, 16gb ram
PSU: Corsair CX Series CX750
GPU: MSI GTX 1060 6G

Good on harddrives/ssds.

Budget: 1100
When to purchase: if there is a great deal, then now. Otherwise, weekend of 09/07
I would love to be able to run FFXV at highest settings. Will take whatever I can get though within budget.

Not sure if I should be just looking to rebuild or not. Have had some of these parts for a very long time (PSU, mobo, and CPU are all from like 2012).

CPU and Ram are fine TBH. If you wanna spend money, get Graphics card and monitor. (1080ti and a 1440p 120hz+ or 4k)

Yeah.. tbh 1060 was horrid purchase. Not because of performance issues or anything like that but more because I just want something more powerful. Is it worth waiting for the 2080?

Ah gotcha. Is DDR3 not as big of a difference to DDR4? Honestly never took the time to learn the differences since I am on a DDR3 mobo.

ddr4 is not leaps ahead of ddr3 at all. ram never make sa huge impact though ddr2-3 was quite a large step.
most people are goign to go ddr3 to 5 tbh with how these tiny upgrades to the cpu are going.

I wouldn't wait tbh for a 2080. theres no benchmarks a lot of false hype atm.
Its corner stone selling point is ray tracing, something that vastly improves shadows/lighting.
But no games support it really atm and no one maxes out settings on games they play competitively.
The 1080ti Used is a great option right now imo though, people selling just to get a start on that 2080.
get one only a year old with a still active warranty and you laughing.

Why false. Hype
More cuda
Faster memory
Ipc unsure but still node shrink

It's not gonna be a huge performance leap. Theoretically ~20% in games that don't use ray tracing (almost all of them). Not that it will be bad, but not worth the upgrade from a 1080ti IMO.

Ipc and faster ram and ram bandwidth and. Other clocks would prolly close to 30 especially on 2080ti considering 21 % increase in cuda alone

Pascal was biggest jump in forever turing might be close or bigger
