I am looking to upgrade my video card but I'm on a budget. I was recommended the gtx 1050 ti, but I don't know which brand to get.

If you can afford it, get one of these: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/TrGj4D/msi-geforce-gtx-1060-6gb-6gb-gt-ocv1-video-card-geforce-gtx-1060-6gt-ocv1

Should be fine, unless it's a seriously crappy 600W PSU.

The GTX 1060 requires a 6 pin cable from the PSU. And some of the GTX 1050 Ti's do as well. What is the make and model of your PSU?

the best nvidia brand I've owned is probably Galaxy (now Galax?)
never had one one of those fuckers quit on me, superb build quality, still running one of their 8800 gts's in a netflix box.

Barring that, Gigabyte, EVGA, MSI, all good, can't go wrong.

I bought a 600w EVGA psu for $30 from bestbuy and another 800w from, newegg. probably will return the 800w one.

my current gpu i think is the radeon r8 180 or something.

i decided to go with the radeon rx 580 video card since my,monitor has freesync
