Been playing fortnite for a little while now, maybe 2 months tops, and I’ve gotten better. However, i feel as if I could improve more if my ping wasn’t so high. It’s around 90-115 in game. I don’t know how to drop it. I have 100mb/s internet wired connection. The connection is on a 50’ Ethernet cord because my modem is in my living room and can’t move far away and my computer is in my office.

Also, I have a GTX 1050 2gb ddr5 gpu. Upgrading this would help out with what exactly?

I’m not sure what I could upgrade either. Parts:

AMD A320
Ryzen 7 1700 3.0ghz
8gb ddr4 Ram 2133

Let me know if you need other info

Your ping is generally reflective of the distance between you and the server.
Theres not much you can do about it. You could get a new router, reduce network usage, better cabling but none of this will help if its just distance from server.

100 ping isn't great but it isn't horrible either. If it was higher I'd say you'd have an issue.

You could find where fortnite servers are and move over to live next to it. Other than that nothing will reduce your ping significantly

Got it.

What about the second question? What does a gpu upgrade..? I feel like my graphics doesn’t look as good on fortnite as other games, such as league. League looks super crisp on my 24” and fortnite looks like ok graphics. I have most settings on high I believe. I assume if I upgrade gpu that’ll be better?

Are you in an urban or rural part of Kansas?
A couple ways to test your ping would be to use www.speedtest.net (simpler, possibly less accurate), or if you can get the IP address of a nearby ISP server, you can ping it directly to the ISP, or you can use www.google.com.
Go to your command prompt and type "ping www.google.com" or replace the Google link with your ISP's IP address. Press "Ctrl + C" to end the test.
