I’ve been waiting to get a new monitor (hopefully 2) for a bit and someone in the chd section posted one of these for a different user, didn’t want to highjack thread, so I came here. He said the first (original) one was a TN? I don’t know what that means but for 144hz 1ms that price seems great.

However I scrolled down to see a similar model, 75 hz 1ms for much less. Anyone be able to tell me if it’s worth the extra 75$ or so for the 144hz or is it overkill? Play fortnite, league, d2, pubg, etc

Generally, the TN panels can achieve higher frequencies and lower response times.

IPS panels, have a better image.

This. Also, it may be harder for your system to reach 144 hz depending on your hardware.

So the 75hz would be better?

Depends. It has freesync so if you have an AMD video card you can take advantage of that. Also, if you don't have a 1070 or better, I think it would be hard to maintain a solid 144 fps.

I’m have a VIDIA GeForce GTX 1050. I did plan on upgrading it when I felt I could toss a bit more money out.

But 1070 or better and I should get a 144?

That's just about what it would take to maintain a steady 144 frames per second. A 1060 can probably average it, but you will notice dips.
It also depends on if you will notice much depending on the games you play. If you play a lot of FPS or high action games, you will notice high frames a lot more than if you are playing an RPG like Skyrim.

Get the 144hz,at least then you can utilize it in the future when you get a better gpu. If u get a 75, it won't matter if u get a gg gpu, u will end up getting 144/1 later anyway.
60 to 144 in fps gaming is a huge difference, compared to 60 to 75.

go for the 144 hz for main and get the 75hz for movies, etc

whenever you do upgrade the 144hz will be worth it. plus on the 1050 just be smart about settings and u can prob get a descent ammount out of the 144hz
