Right now I have 2X280 R9 Sapphire. I used to keep them in crossfire but I've had too many issues so I keep them off.

I'm trying to gather information for a near future upgrade that won't break the bank(~$200) that would make a difference and last as long as my current ones have. Also wondering if switching to Nvidia would be less of a pain if I decide to get an other identical card and SLI them instead of buying an other brand new graphics card.

Crossfire has seemed to cause me more problems than I thought it would. Does SLI have the same issues with Nvidia? Would switching to Nvidia from AMD/ATI cause problems?

Those issues are probably outdated driver technology/motherboard related. Newer nvidia cards don't support SLI until you get to the 1070 or higher, but a 1050 ti or 1060 6gb would just do fine at 1080p 60 fps in most modern games.

Check drivers might be out dated prolly due for a full upgrade. Mining has gpu prices sky high. I myself want to get my hands on a 1080 ti. I’ve never bought a pre built computer and thought I never would but for cost reasons it seems to be a option nowadays. You can get a full ready to play gaming pc for 700 bucks. In some cases that pricing is similar to gpu, processor, mobo and ram. I’m sure lots of people will cringe to the sound of “prebuilt” but if you can’t get ur hands on s gpu what’s the point.

a 1050 ti isn't that much better than a r9 280. I mean I dunno if he'll see a ton of noticeable gains. about %20 better

I think if he can get some descent cash for his vid cards if he sells them then go for gtx 1060 +

All of my drivers are 100% updated. I've checked the AMD Radeon app and website. I can't seem to make my 3 monitors work simultaneously nor run games like LOL and SC2 while in crossfire without major visual problems, usually while scrolling through the map.

As for prices...yeah I heard about miners ruining gaming because they're buying every card they can get their greasy hands on.

By you guys suggesting Nvidia cards, I'm guessing switching from ADM/ATI to Nvidia would not do anything bad to my computer, right?

I didn't mean you weren't up to date on driver, I meant that game devs probably don't spend a lot of time with compatibility on drivers that old since not many people still use them.
Also, as stated above, I would recommend getting at least a 1060 or better, otherwise you're just spending money on something that's barely an upgrade.
