I bought a new 35' Ultra Wide QHD screen mainly for work / school to hook up onto my laptop: BenQ EX3501R

But I also have an old PC that I could upgrade to play some games on (Mainly Fortnite lol)

Currently it has:

Asus P6T SE Motherboard
I7 920 CPU
12gb of ddr3 ram
samsung SSD
gtx 1050 ti

Stuff is pretty old but still works well

Guess I cant just drop a 1080 ti in here and expect it to work great right?
What else should I upgrade to be able to play on 3440x1440 with decent settings

Another option would be to get a 1060 and scale the screen down to 2560x1080 when playing games?
Would that require any other upgrades besides the gfx card?

What power supply do you have in that desktop computer?

As for the vid card needed to drive that monitor, a GTX 1080 at minimum. And yes you can run the monitor at lower resolution and use a less power full card, like a GTX 1070.
