Hello fellows - I have not been building or speccing rigs for over a year so I am totally out of touch with the latest and greatest products

My friend needs a new one so here are some of his comments:

THIS IS IN CANADA

Budget is $2000, to include monitor and keyboard (which he can totally source himself) so probably allow $1500-$1600 for the computer itself.

Main use will be just basic office programs/stock trading software/gaming.

At least 500GB SSD for sure. He has an external 1TB hard drive.

32G RAM

If budget allows then water cool CPU

Windows 7 (feel free to exclude from budget - can be sourced in other ways)

He also wants a side window case - blue light theme (He sent me this case https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16811353104[/URL] ) I would prefer him go with CM or Corsair

Now, this is me speaking again:

I would always source AMD only for the value but I think he is open to other options

Probably stick with ATX - no need for micro or mini

Thank you to whoever posts y'all are appreciated

The OG comes through clutch

Is that case he likes worth it? Looks pretty limiting inside - is the brand reputable?

Fractal Design is better than Corsair, NZXT, etc IMO. Only ones better are like inwin and all the weird exotic case manufacturers.
I don't know what you mean by limiting, has plenty of space unless you plan to custom loop, in which case you gonna need about another thousand dollars.
All in all, that AMD system will perform all around better; 16 CPU threads vs 6, GFX card is about 50% better.
32GB ram is unneecessary btw. If you have SSD and decent speed memmory (2667+), it wont make a difference unless you are doing very large scale media editing.

DIYPC is a relatively new company. The reason I picked the Focus G case is that it has everything you will need AND it fits the budget.

Fractal Design is a seriously reputable company. There are god cases out there, but not for a decent price.
